UCAS Personal ID: 1066810396

The work that I have submitted shows a variety of my final pieces of work and how I approach an idea and develop this into a finished piece by exploring a range of compositions, dramatic or distressed for the appropriate texture, looking at imagery, patters and movement to create a sense of rhythm and other inspirations.  I find that researching artist and photography are a personal influence of mine. I enjoy looking at landscapes, nature and looking at how colour unfolds through depth and light. I can then use this knowledge that I have gained through my own personal research to influence me in developing techniques. In my opinion I believe that it is extremely important to be passionate, motivated and take great interested in textiles in order to produce a variety of unique ideas and having the ability to problem solve and use development ideas efficiently.  I’ve included a mixture of AS work which was based around decaying winter and my A2 work so far which was based on tea cups and cakes. I believe the passion I share for textiles and design has given me a distinctive relationship when exploring the possibilities of drawing styles, media and textural experiments which has benefited me greatly when developing my work. Been motivated and passionate about textiles has equipped me with the skills and confidence to enter the fast paced world of textile industry. I believe that the course that you offer would open up the need for new approaches and give me a greater opportunity to develop my work and personal research which allows me to express individuality and flexibility as well as getting involved with working in a diverse environment where I can get involved with new technology and textile techniques.
My AS project which was based around a decaying winter. I was particularly interested in investigating new materials and recycling things to give old things new life which links in well to a decaying winter. I liked to take something that people see as 'dead' and by using my creative insight to see things in a different way and to be able to creatively transform this into something new and exciting.
