Evaluation of sampling project

During this project I have made connections with my practice and work by doing the following things. I took pacific photos of buildings that related to my work and then took time to analyse which photos worked best with my workshop and which ones I could relate too in my project. I took the photos into my workshop which was print and allowed myself to create a screen which was based around one of these photos. I also produced some drawings and mark makings which were included in my print workshop using different techniques that I acquired in the workshop.
What I have discovered during this project is don’t be afraid to take risks and experiment as you can learn something from every sample and every drawing that you do can take you further even if it’s gone wrong you can progress from this and understand why it wasn’t a success. I’ve also learnt to keep going with my samples, in print I was keen to go in when I wasn’t schedualed too just so that I could experiment more and discover what else I could do with this workshop. I kept taking pictures and drawings to keep my inspirations flowing so that I didn’t come to a mental block with my work which I found happened in my last project.
I think that in this project I have managed my time better and I have had a constant positive approach to my work where as in my last project I wasn’t enjoying it therefore wasn’t as willing to put in the time as I was struggling with it. Therefore I made sure that it was a crucial part of this project that I did something that I enjoy and made sure that  I was passionate about my work and also that I was positive about what I was producing instead of seeing the negatives.
I do feel that this project has made me think outside the box and too look at the less obvious. Such as when sourcing materials I thought about what I could use that would create unusual marks and textures. Instead of just opting for a pencil, charcoal or oil bar which is what I would usually go for. I gathered bits and pieces of mostly recycled rubbish that I could use to create marks and use in different ways to experiment with my work. I also tried to look at things differently such as when I was taking my photos I cropped and zoomed in to the cracks which had many beautiful textural lines and depth to them. Things that we walk on and see every day but don’t realise how delicate and interesting they can be until looked at in a different light and used in a different way. I tried to solve problems such as how was I going to transfer this into my workshops and came up with several different paths as too how I could go about this rather than just going in a straight forward step by step way. This made me discover many different ideas and gave me a burst of inspiration that I could take forward into my workshop which was very helpful and made me use my resources to the best of my ability.
